La Ponderosa - Reforesting a Former Cattle Farm
Reforestation 51,14 ha

With the new finca in Darién we want to plant our largest generational forest in the region so far. Our land use is regenerative throughout: we are rebuilding the depleted soils, protecting water sources and giving the native animals more habitat.

In September 2020 we started the reforestation.

The former owner kept cattle on the land from 2008-2020. The area is in good condition as it was cultivated with modern and less invasive methods.

We are able to plant some very well demanded precious woods on the area, whose natural stands are currently under massive pressure. Among them are species such as Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa), Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata) and Mahagony (Swietenia macrophylla), which are threatened with extinction in nature. The finca belongs to our project area Agua Fria.

Planted species:
Ron Ron (Astronium graviolens)
Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata)
Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa)
Bergmandel (Dipteryx panamensis)
Mahagony (Swietenia macrophylla)
Guayacan Trompetenbaum  (Tabebuia impetiginosa)
Roble (Tabebuia rosea)
Teak (Tectona grandis)
