Planting Event - May, 2025

With the second planting cycle year now underway, community-driven restoration at Aranta–Sotema continues to build momentum. This new chapter reflects sustained dedication and growing local ownership, with the landscape and livelihoods increasingly shaped by the care of the community.

During this latest planting event, the following propagules were directly planted across vital mangrove zones:

Ceriops tagal – 74,945
Rhizophora mucronata – 999
Bruguiera gymnorhiza – 17,119

This direct, high-density propagule planting approach reinforces ecological resilience by encouraging natural root development and promoting genetic diversity, while also lowering costs and improving survival outcomes.

This month, we are proud to highlight the support of the Prosperity Community “Heroes”, who made possible the planting of 47,338 mangrove propagules. Their contribution is playing a direct role in the long-term restoration of these coastal ecosystems.

Red Island Restoration (RIR), as ARC’s dedicated implementing partner, continues to guide and support these efforts on the ground, working hand-in-hand with the local community to deliver lasting environmental, social, and economic benefits.
