The forest biome we are restoring in Brazil with the Bakairi Indigenous People, called the “Veredas” of the Brazilian cerrado (savannah), are typically located in valleys or on flat lands, following drainage lines and are often associated with springs. Veredas play a crucial role in water regulation within the cerrado, acting as natural sponges that store and slowly release water, contributing to the region's rivers and streams. In this image, you can see an example of the clear water in the forest with one of the leaders of the village looking on.
