Original Cocoa Seeds were direct planted in a humid area in our conservation site as indicated by Don Chico Pop, the guardian of the Original Maya Cocoa. 120 seeds were planted with a distance of 2.5 mt by 3 mt. The seeds which were planted in a more clear area with more sunlight had a better and faster germination.
These seeds are very important, not for the production of cocoa, but for preserving the germplasm of this antient cocoa species.
