Forest Restoration Planting in Alta Mogiana region (Sao Paolo State)

In the past few weeks, we embarked on an exciting journey of forest restoration in Sales Oliveira, SP. Our mission? To enhance the conditions of a stream in the midst of a landscape dominated by sugarcane. Here are the highlights of this action, which is part of the Biriba Program and Ana Primavesi, a carbon program that encompasses this and other activities.
🌱 We employed the "Muvuca de Sementes" technique, mixing over 46 native species to create a true treasure trove of biodiversity. The seed mix is combined with sand to improve drainage and planting, providing an ideal environment.
We were a team of 12 people, pooling our efforts to expedite the work. After the tractor passed, team members walked from row to row, distributing the seeds. Over approximately 4 hectares have been completed, with another 2 hectares to go.
The area is a Permanent Preservation Area (PPA), next to a river, which was previously dominated by sugarcane and will now return to its natural and protective vegetation. This restoration improves the region's water resources and creates a vegetative corridor for wildlife.
And to top it off, nature cooperated with us. The rains arrived, celebrating our efforts and aiding the seeds in germination and growth. 🌧️
This is just the beginning of our journey. We have a series of actions ahead, so stay tuned to learn more.
