Forests, climate change and communities in the REDD+ Sur del Meta project is a brooklet (Spanish version), aimed at families and communities that are part of the Conservación REDD+ Sur del Meta, Bosques de paz, Sustento de Vida project, carried out in the municipalities of Puerto Lleras, Puerto Concordia, Puerto Rico y Vista Hermosa. This brooklet presents:

• The information and concepts needed to understand the relationship between forests and climate change;
• The mechanism for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+);
• Steps and requirements for developing a REDD+ project;
• The progress, scope and current status of the REDD+ project in the Sur del
  Meta.

Therefore, the brooklet is mainly focused on topics such as:

• Deforestation and its impact on climate change in different regions of Colombia;
• What REDD+ is about;
• How projects like these operate;
• Who participates.

This publication is part of a set of materials prepared by ALLCOT to facilitate access to information for local communities, through didactic pieces that contribute to a comprehensive understanding of what REDD+ is and how the project works.
