Puerto Concordia

There are 21,442 inhabitants in Puerto Concordia. The population increase has been constant in both rural and urban areas (DANE, 2020).

  • The population concentration in rural areas is 50.58% and 49.42% in urban areas.
  • The multidimensional poverty indexs for the municipality is 87.8%.
  • Informal employment in the municipality is 99.37%.

Until approximately 15 years ago, the main source of income for the municipality was the production, processing and commercialization of coca, and given the income generated by this activity, there was little interest in developing licit agricultural activities, except for cattle ranching under the extensive production system.

The municipality of Puerto Concordia has low health coverage indexes for the existing systems, with 4.1% coverage of the subsidized system and 1.3% of the special system, 4.14% for the contributory system, and 13.8% for the uninsured population.

As part of the population, there is an indigenous reservation with a population of 266 people, equivalent to 1.2% of the total population of the municipality. This reservation is located outside of the project area and reference area.

Puerto Concordia has not published its municipal development plan, but it was one of the municipalities favored by Program Visión Amazonía for the review and adjustment of the Land Use Planning Scheme (EOT).
