First Traceability Pilot in Region Aysén

The First Traceability Pilot

This pilot was conducted within the framework of a project that the Future of Fish (Chile) team has been working on in the Aysén region. The first stage of the pilot marketing project was initially developed in collaboration with fishers from Puerto Gala and various local actors and institutions.

The initial pilot run involved the landing of 600 kilograms of southern hake caught by three boats, which were kept on ice in sealed boxes, transported by barge, and then by truck to a processing facility in the city of Coyhaique.

Another Success Story

The work was locally coordinated by three women, and the fish was accompanied throughout the journey by Future of Fish team members. According to preliminary surveys, the product obtained in this pilot was of extremely high quality.

The pilot was deemed successful, and the implementation of procedures and tools to enhance product traceability received positive feedback from processors, buyers and government representatives in the area.
