MOOF -Africa promotes aquaculture in the project area. Farmers use and construct water ponds to harvest rainwater from the water run-off in landscape, house roofs and from their farms in Nanyuki region. This water issued for supplemental irrigation on their crops through the drip irrigations system powered by solar water pumps. The other use of these water ponds is to raise and stock Tilapia fish which is consumed in the household and surplus is sold to town fish openings. Farmers are also coming up with aquaculture agribusiness enterprise where they are keen on strong processing fish meat into fish sausages, fillets and fish meat balls. Hence the demand for Tilapia and cat fish is gaining momentum and this is well turning into a lucrative fish entrepreneurship business in the project area.
