Kraaibosch Restoration Project: Nursery
Spotlight Impact Report Published

Back in 2022, our Kraaibosch Forest Restoration Project came to a close. Since then, we have been able to reflect on the outcomes achieved from the implementation of our restoration activities in this region.

The Kraaibosch Forest Restoration Project worked to restore degraded land on the edge of the indigenous Knysna forests. The vision was the full restoration and regeneration of the indigenous forests, focusing on degraded forest edges, riparian zones, and land affected by wildfires in the buffer zone of the Garden Route National Park in the Kraaibosch region, Western Cape. The project set out to achieve improved biodiversity, soil stability and health, carbon sequestration and water regulation through the planting of indigenous tree species, as well as create economic benefits for the community through resource utilisation.

We recently published our project spotlight report, which demonstrates the impact we have made against these goals. Between 2020 and 2022, this project restored 0.53 hectares of forest land and planted 4,500 trees.
