In order to support the management and monitoring teak plantations as well as to provide better market access for the smallholders, the FLOURISH project collaborated with the provincial and district offices of the Department of Agriculture and Department of Forestry in Xayabouly to implement surveys of teak plantations in Nakong, Pakong and Tha village. DAFO officials reviewed teak registration applications from the smallholders and issued 85 certificates which cover 55.76 ha, for 57 smallholders of the 3 villages.
On 17 September, a ceremony was organized to handover teak certificates to the smallholders. The project will continue its support on building capacity for the smallholder on sustainable teak management and partnership with private sector.
