The Blinkwater Cooperative

Products from the Blinkwater cooperative are now available on the ABALABI Marketplace app.

Buffeljagsbaai is home to the Blinkwater Cooperative. This cooperative comprises a small group of line fishers and women harvesters who were born in Buffeljagsbaai and have lived here all their lives, depending on the sea and inter-tidal zone for their livelihoods.

The Blinkwater cooperative, founded by Sarah Niemand and her husband Daniel, works sustainably with the basket of local marine resources in their surrounding ocean ecosystem. Products include pickled fish, pickled mussels, and sour fig jam.
