Abandoned infrastructures of the Isachsen weather station

The Isachsen weather station was named after the Norwegian explorer of the Arctic, Gunnar Isachsen. It is completely abandoned now and our team spent the day exploring the frozen buildings. A few km away, there was also a frozen C-47 plane that crashed in 1949, but has been left completely intact. Over 15 years ago a tradition started of people leaving their names and the date they visited on cards in one of the station’s rooms. We left ours before heading back to continue the journey up to the North Pole. Isachsen is be the last contact we will have with civilization before connecting with the Barneo station at the North Pole.
