almsot 200 hectares of an old Eucalyptus Monoculture. Very hard conditions, poor soils, very dry.
Winters are very cold, freezing temperatures; Summer very hot and dry for long periods. Eucalyptus are strugling.
Very Slow Natural regeneration happening.

As ReflorestarPT we are intervening to restore this are into a biodiverse Forest. Initial strategy is related to the following approach, amongst other:

• organic matter management: chop & drop;
• using eucalyptus as organic matter; using the available resources: chop & drop, shredding;
• covering and protecting the soil: organic matter & seeding cover crops;
• introducing native species as biodiversity: pioneers and trees;
• research on most resilient trees, most adapted and which conditions benefit higher survival rates of plants;
• mycylium introduction and research of its impact on tree survival.
