In December 2018, a pilot implementation of the reconfigured Seychelles ABALOBI Fisher and ABALOBI Marketplace was conducted with artisanal fishers from the Roche Caiman and Aux Anse Pins fishing communities on Mahe Island.
The Fishers: Three artisanal fishers were registered on the Seychelles ABALOBI Fisher app, and hook to cook profiles were compiled for them. Individual fishing trips were logged on behalf of the fishers using the Seychelles ABALOBI Fisher app.
The Restaurants: Subsequently, the catch was loaded onto the ABALOBI Marketplace and purchased by two restaurants, TAMASSA Seafood Restaurant and Maison Marengo, who had registered on the ABALOBI Marketplace as buyers. A third restaurant, Del Place, showed interest and attended a full demonstration of the ABALOBI Marketplace.
Codesign: Additionally, the first attempt at co-designing the Seychelles ABALOBI Fisher app was conducted, and several species profiles were updated to reflect the fish most commonly caught by artisanal fishers on Mahe Island.
