Since the initiation of this project bringing women into the team has been a challenge. Involving the community in a holistic way is a major goal of ours, but sometimes cultural norms are difficult to break.

In 2024 we had breakthroughs with the teams. The teams saw that the few women on their team were just as capable as their male counterparts and when it came to making new hires the coastal team and other teams in Guatemala made many hires of women bringing the projects across the country to almost 50/50 men and women.

We are thrilled to see those who had little opportunity to earn for themselves and their loved ones now have a chance to do that!
