(1) Agroforestry systems with cocoa
Recovery of degraded areas of forest, through the implementation of agroforestry systems managed under organic standards, with cocoa as the main crop. The cocoa will be processed in the post-harvest center of the community to obtain dry cocoa, which will be marketed to international markets.
ECONOMIC benefits:
- 15 families involved
- Annual profit for the agroforestry committee of $ 16,200
- Implementation of self-consumption crops
SOCIAL benefits:
- Involvement of both men and women in agricultural activities.
- Strengthening of agricultural committees for the proper use of soils and the sustainable management of their farms
- Availability of products for basic food of the families of the community (cassava, beans, others)
ENVIRONMENTAL benefits:
- Recovery of 30 hectares of degraded land, reforested with agroforestry systems
- Recovery of flora and fauna species
(2) Forest plantations
Recovery of land degraded by extensive agriculture and livestock, through the implementation of forest plantations of native species of the Amazon. The community will install forest plantations in plots that will be managed by families, who will be responsible for managing 1 to 2 hectares, including the production of seedlings in nurseries, installation on the ground, silviculture activities and monitoring of the plantation. Those family plots will be established in a common area within the community, in order that the wood obtained in 15 years is commercialized in the national and international market.
ECONOMIC benefits:
- The families involved will receive economic incentives for the activities they carry out; However, this long-term investment will generate a future economic impact for all families in the community.
SOCIAL benefits:
- Creation of a committee on forest plantations and application of new reforestation techniques.
- Environmental education in the community school for learning about the importance of reforestation and forest care.
ENVIRONMENTAL benefits:
- Recovery of 60 hectares of degraded land, reforested native forest species
- Recovery of flora and fauna species
