Historical background

HISTORY:
The Berlin Conference of 1884 recognized Germany’s claim to Cameroon as their colony. With the defeat of Germany in the 1st World War and the creation of the League of Nations, Cameroon was partitioned to the French and English respectively as administrative authorities. The English took over the West Cameroons and had the opportunity to take over German property west of the Mungo, which included the Plantations. The present day Pamol Estates are plantations left behind by the German Company – Bai, Ndian and Lobe Estates as well as the new extensions at Ekondo Nene and Bakassi Oil Palm Development Projects

Pamol Plantations Plc was created on July 10, 1996 through a debt equity swap in settlement of outstanding debts owed to creditors of the defunct Plantations Pamol du Cameroun Ltd (PPCL) in liquidation. It is a parastatal company registered under the laws of Cameroon and governed by the OHADA treaty and under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

LOCATION:
Pamol is located on the rich and fertile soils of the South West Region of Cameroon along the Atlantic coast of central Africa and has three Estates namely Lobe, Ndian and Bai Estates as well as Ekondo Nene and the Bakassi oil palm extension projects.
