ReWild Africa's "Protectors" series sheds light on the underrepresented voices in the climate movement, and the pilot episode "Dressing the Princess" is close to home in Cape Town.
Cape Town is experiencing a higher rate of species extinction than any city on Earth. “Dressing the Princess” shares the journey of two young urban conservationists as they fight to restore their city through restoring the dignity of marginalised communities by reconnecting them to their land.
Through creating this film, our mission is to:
Inspire and equip political leaders to invest in supporting local community-driven restoration efforts around the world through screening this film at intergovernmental climate events such as COP27. "Dressing the Princess" will also be used as a tool to help mobilise more young “citizen scientists” from Cape Town to participate in the ecological restoration of Princess Vlei.
ReWild is seeking brand partners to join our campaign before the official launch on Monday 30th May 2022. Through crowdfunding, we will be able to complete post-production and release "Dressing the Princess". If you’re interested in joining our campaign, there are plenty of ways to be involved, from being part of our community by following ReWild Africa on instagram and following the campaign, to monetary support with great impactful incentives. We are currently seeking corporate sponsors who want to align their brand with the impact of "Dressing the Princess", as well as the "Protectors" series as a whole. Get in touch with Carter Kirilenko (carter@rewild.tv), the director of the film, if the idea of your brand being part of our vision and community aligns with your mission.
We really look forward to the launch of the crowdfunding campaign on Monday! This is ReWild’s first independent documentary series and we couldn’t be more excited about the results from production so far - I can’t wait for you to see the finished product.
I hope you’ll join us in launching this series!
