This agroforestry was implemented in a degraded area with sparse secondary vegetation. This farmer used to practice slash and burn. The planting of the agroforestry prevented the burning of the area. With the slash and mulch plantation, the objective is to produce cassava, native fruits and non-timber forest products, such as andiroba (Carapa guianensis), cumaru (Dypterix odorata), rosewood (Aniba roseodora) and red cedar (Cedrela odorata).
