Port St Johns Fishers Take the Lead in Engaging With E-Learning Short Courses

ABALOBI developed some e-learning courses for cooperative members in Port St. Johns.

Casting a Wider Net: Online Training for Fishers

In January 2024, ABALOBI conducted training on the FISHER and MONITOR apps to several co-op members from Port St. Johns. Since then, we have received several requests from trainees and other community members for further training. Since our team is based quite far away from Port St. Johns, our best option was to compile some modules from our e-learning platform into a short course for these enthusiastic fishers to complete online.

A Digital Deep Dive

Given the geographical distance between our team and Port St. Johns, we opted to compile relevant modules from our e-learning platform into a concise online course. This approach allowed enthusiastic fishers to access and complete the training remotely. The course was designed to be comprehensive yet accessible, ensuring participants could easily engage with the material and apply what they learned.

Fishers Exceed Expectations

The fishers demonstrated exceptional dedication and quickly completed their courses within a few days. Their enthusiastic engagement was evident as they actively learned more about ABALOBI and the benefits of our tools, subsequently sharing this knowledge within their community. This project not only validated the effectiveness of our e-learning platform but also highlighted the self-sufficiency and commitment of the fishers. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and their contribution to their community's growth.

Special recognition goes to Zitulele, Jonguxolo, and Sifiso for their hard work and dedication. Keep up the excellent work!
