As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our data collection methods in various communities, we held an exchange workshop to train two more Data Collection Assistants to serve the community of Hamburg, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Enhancing Skills

In August 2023, a data collection learning exchange workshop was held in Struisbaai.

The purpose of the learning exchange was to equip two newly onboarded ABALOBI Data Collection Assistants with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct data collection work in the coastal community of Hamburg.

The Skills Exchange

The Struisbaai team is ABALOBI’s most experienced team of data collectors and are well-equipped to impart knowledge about ABALOBI data collection technology and its application to the new data collection assistants of Hamburg. Overall, five of the six participants were women.

This learning exchange once again proved to be an effective way to ensure knowledge and skills transfer while boosting the confidence levels of the fishers who participated in the training.
