Leaf senescence

Leaf senescence is the genetically programmed process in which the plant nutrients are degraded and redistributed from old or useless leaves. These nutrients are stored in other organs or reused in the formation of new leaves that have a higher productivity in photosynthetic activity.
The mined leaves fall down and are degraded by soil micro-organisms so far that the plant can recycle this waste as a nutrient.
In this way, the plants give us a clear example of optimal reuse and recycling of resources.
Let us learn from them!
