The fincas, which belong to the Filo del Tallo project area, are located 236 km from Panama City, in Chepigana, Río Iglesias in Darién. They are still about 1 km away from the Panamerican Highway. There are internal gravel roads. There are other cattle ranches in the area.
In the past this land was completely forested, but today it is mostly pasture. The existing vegetation is grasslands and scattered and grouped trees in the galleries of streams and watercourses. About 45% of the area is slightly hilly (tillable), 30% hilly and 25% very hilly, with steep slopes in the drainage areas. Most of the fincas are passable by vehicles. The soil has a loamy texture of medium to high fertility. There are erosion processes, so soil conservation measures are required. The fincas have permanent water.
The properties have good topography, good soil and climate. Access and proximity to the Panamericana are good. A ford or bridge should be built to connect all the land internally. Due to the many trees on the fincas, the reforestation area can be reduced. There are also areas with gravel, which should be deducted from the effective area.
These fincas are adjacent to the Filo del Tallo Water Conservation Area, which is of great importance to the region. A TGF project would add more forest area to the reserve. There are no known conflicts in this area and there is the possibility of buying more land from neighbors.
