We are so happy to announce that we have completed the construction of our community nursery. The nursery is 10m x 15m, with the capacity for 6,000-8,000 seedlings. Next, we'll install 6, 1m x 8m beds and begin to pot up seeds already collected, as well as collect additional seeds and seedlings from local forests, farms, and reserves.
By setting up a nursery, our community has taken an essential step towards scaling this project and making agroforestry accessible to more families. Prices paid to farmers in Madagascar for cash crops like vanilla have been reaching record lows, and many farmers are seeking to diversify production, both for markets and for home consumption. Soon, we hope to see many more hectares planted!
