76% of the target surface area in Casamance is now planted - around 1700 ha. Our goal is 2245 ha by the end of 2023. Planting was a intensive but rewarding experience, bringing together between 50 and 500 people per day, mostly women and young people. It took over three hours to reach some planting sites by boat and by foot! Now, post-planting monitoring is taking place, measuring the pH, salinity, type of soil, density, overall mortality, causes of mortality and possible corrective actions, as well as the height of the seedlings their diameters and number of leaves. Photographs are also taken from each monitoring visit to record the growth.
