Meet one of our farmers

Habtamu A., 35 years old and a father of two, was struggling to make a living and sustain his family in Finoteselam, his home town. When his work as a builder dried up, life became a struggle. Habtamu decided to use his parent's farmland which he inherited, though the land was idle. He established an agroforestry system with technical support and follow up from WeForest. He received improved variety fruit tree seedlings and vegetables, integrating banana, avocado, mango, coffee and multipurpose trees and shrubs in his backyard farm. His vegetables - carrots and cabbages - will be ready for harvesting any day now, and through these sales alone Habtamu can potentially earn up to the equivalent of US$100 a week.
