They start small, and after half a year of care and attention, they flourish. Over the course of the year we have watched the young Mulanje cedars change from tiny sprouted seeds to hardy young seedlings, with strong stems and multiple side branches. With the onset of the rainy season and the huge storms that circle Mount Mulanje, the time is right for these seedlings to return home to their natural environment in the afromontane forests on Mulanje’s vast plateau.
