Xibalba Estate is our pilot project. It is a 55 hectare private property located in the southern limits of the Buffer Zone in the Mayan Biosphere Reserve. The property is divided into a 33 hectare former cattle field and a 22 hectare secondary forest.
The 33 hectare cattle field area will be restored by planting more than 20 native tree and plant species. This area will have a forestry management plan in order to sustainably harvest timber in the future and produce non-timber products and ecosystem services.
The 22 hectare secondary forest will be protected and enriched with native plant species to help with its regeneration. This area will have a sustainable forest management project in order to produce non-timber products and ecosystem services.
Xibalba Estate will become a Private Nature Reserve that will help to regenerate biodiversity in the area and will become part of a biological corridor.
