Wieliczka Salt Mine

Before lunch we visited a truly unique place: Wieliczka Salt Mine in the suburbs of Krakow.

Salt began to be mined in this place in the 12th century. The production stopped in 1962. The first excursions for tourists began in the second half of the 19th century for a hundred years. While this mine was in operation, exhibition halls were gradually formed. A lot of work has been done over a hundred years. In total, the complex has more than 350 km of tunnels and about 2 thousand halls of various sizes. The exhibition is in excellent condition. We advise everyone who finds themselves in Krakow to visit this place.
