Listen to the call of the White-throated Kingfisher

Thanks to the acoustic monitoring equipment installed by Biometrio, we were able to detect and record vocalizations of a Halcyon smyrnensis, commonly known as the White-throated Kingfisher.

Regular monitoring provides insights into animal population groups and their spatial distribution.

IUCN Red list assessment: Least Concerned (12 June 2024)

To protect wildlife, we’ve chosen not to share exact locations. Our team in West Sumatra is concerned that poachers might target animals if they know the species' whereabouts. Hunting is common in the region, and knowing the presence of protected species could encourage poaching. We appreciate your understanding in keeping this information confidential.
