Imanda Forest
The Imanda Forest project steps up to the starting block

After the project was voted for by the communities in a Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) process, two out of three sub-Community Forest Management Committees of the Imanda Forest project have now been formed, both with at least 30% female representation. One of the largest examples of moist evergreen forest in the country, Imanda forest is an Important Bird Area, but is unprotected against encroachment by logging, wild honey collection, cattle grazing and invasive vegetation. Our new initiative will strengthen community forest ownership and biodiversity conservation, bringing 400 ha under restoration.
