In response to climate change and the high levels of deforestation in the country, the National Assembly of Zambia has been rolling out a tree planting programme in all the constituencies in the country. In April, it was the turn of one of Copperbelt project’s three districts: Mpongwe. The Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly, Nelly Mutti, planted a total of 100 assorted tree seedlings during the launch, and 78 pine trees were planted at Bilima Primary School in the Imanda Community Forest Area Catchment area.
