These photos were taken in the project's Chifarit restoration site, which is located in Kuni kebele. During our discussions with the community here in 2022, they were fearful that they would be displaced from their homes if this severe gully – 7.5 metres wide and 9 metres deep – continued to erode, because of water runoff and the risk of landslides. The project provided materials and technical support to rehabilitate the gully, and two years later, it's looking great! The vegetation and grasses slow runoff, trap sediment and prevent further erosion – and not only that, the communities were able to harvest 3645 kg of grass for livestock fodder.
