The farmers participating in our project with AES in Tietê, Brazil, are enjoying their very first agroforestry harvest! Silvia's agroforestry system in Dandara Rural Settlement is blooming with a vibrant array of veggies.

This area of restoration seen from the air is an AES site that predates our partnership, but it gives a great idea of what our sites will typically look like after a couple of years of growth.

The 2022-2023 planting season saw the establishment of the project's first agroforestry systems, with the participating farmers finishing setting up the last of the plots by the end of March this year.

The highly diversified agroforestry systems are composed of fruit trees and native tree species from the regional flora – 46 different species of each.
