The ranch is working together with ICSIAPL project in the development of forage-based feeding master plans, sustainable grazing and land use plans and establishment of trial plots of improved fodder varieties. This patnership has the following outcomes:

  • An inclusive business strategy and forage-based feeding plan developed with forage plans for pasture and forage crops, rations, mechanization, and training investments, that also targets women and youth
  • Lualenyi ranching official’s capacity built on cost effective beef fattening model with clear targets on breeds, weights, fattening duration and market. Also include good governance, gender mainstreaming, women and youth inclusion, forage establishment, production, management, and integrated landscape management.
  • Lualenyi ranch land use & grazing management plans implemented and enforced by all stakeholders including women and youth.
  • Potential women and youth leaders identified by Lualenyi ranching company and trained on leadership.
  • Holistic management approach of conservation and landscape management implemented by Lualenyi ranching company limited
  • Exchange Field visits to other ranches for learning on holistic landscape management and cost-effective beef fattening models are organised and implemented.
  • Feasible business opportunities for forage-SMEs are identified. Capacity of local service providers and input suppliers for implementation is strengthened.
  • Participate in county level multi stakeholder platform for purposes of lobbying for and participating in for development and/or implementation of inclusive policies on fodder value chain and landscape management.
