Asociación de Productores Organicos para el Desarrollo Integral del Polochic

APODIP, founded in 2008, is an association of 2.500 small holder families from 16 communities in the mountain range Sierra de las Minas and the Polochic valley in eastern Guatemala. They promote the sustainable production of coffee and cacao under high organic standards in biodiverse agroforestry systems, providing an alternative source of income to the member families and reducing pressure on the forest ecosystems nearby. Additionally APODIP supports the local education and health care system to enhance public services provided in rural remote areas.
