Guangxi Guilin Huahai Housewares Co., Ltd. is a medium-sized Chinese manufacturer and processor of household goods, including clothes hangers, kitchenware, furniture, bamboo and wooden baskets. Huahai sources both from forests that it manages in Yunnan province, as well as from other producers, and supplies goods to IKEA and other international retailers.

Founded in 2002, Huahai’s headquarters are located in Lipu City, Guangxi province – known as China’s ‘clothes-hanger capital’. The company has over 900 employees, 47 production lines for various household products, with an annual production capacity of up to 220 million clothes hangers, over 30 million sets of kitchenware products, and more than five million sets of furniture accessories.

Huahai has held FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certification since November 2010. The company sources timber from Guangxi and Yunnan, China, supporting more than 57,000 hectares of FSC-certified forests in Yunnan – part of the Greater Mekong region and a WWF ecological priority area.

These forests face pressures such as shifting cultivation and timber theft. As Yunnan is home to Asian elephants, responsible forest management is essential for both wildlife conservation and the livelihoods of local communities. Huahai has invested in a new factory in Pu’er, Yunnan, generating local economic benefits and creating an important opportunity to advance responsible forest management in the region.
