About

The marine and coastal solutions portal is now PANORAMA Blue, hosted by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, GRID-Arendal, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), OCTO - Open Communications for the Ocean, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

PANORAMA Blue is a global forum for accessing and sharing good practice in marine and coastal conservation and sustainable use. We enable practitioners to learn from each other, exchange experience, and get inspiration. With hundreds of adaptable cases, and tens of thousands of engaged forum members, PANORAMA Blue accelerates the implementation of “blue solutions” worldwide.

At PANORAMA Blue, we believe that supporting local action by local actors will be essential to achieving global sustainability goals (e.g., Sustainable Development Goal 14, Paris Agreement, Global Biodiversity Framework). As such, we:

  • Support practitioners to showcase and disseminate their solutions and successes
  • Help decision makers to better understand practical implementation options
  • Bridge the information gap between local implementation and global policy

PANORAMA Blue builds on the successes of the Blue Solutions Initiative, implemented from 2013-2021, which provided knowledge exchange and capacity development on effective marine and coastal management, supporting the delivery of global biodiversity goals, the Paris Agreement, and the 2030 Agenda. Importantly, PANORAMA Blue has added a new consortium partner, OCTO, with unmatched expertise in building vigorous peer-to-peer communities of site-level ocean professionals, with over 100,000 users annually.
