We introduce ourselves Resource Institute of Social Education-RISE is originated & Registered under the society’s Registration Act. 1860 in the year 1982 and under the foreign contribution Regulation Act. 1976 to receive foreign contribution in the year 1985. RISE functions as a non-profit, and non-political, and non-governmental organization in the field of conscientization, education about Global Peace, global Disarmament through Adult Education - keeping in mind to end all wars, women & child development, tsunami relief, and rehabilitation, environment protection, etc. in our project area of operation since 1982. We are involved in environmental protection through a reforestation (tree plantation) program to reduce Corbin emissions. RISE was funded 2010, 2011, 20012, and 2013 by American Forests’ Global ReLeaf Forests, Washington DC., The USA.
Past Experience:
Entrepreneurship Development Training was conducted for 140 members.
Officers from District Industries Centre, PIPDIC and leaders from Non-Government Organisations conducted this training.
The revolving grant was issued to the 25 Women Sanghams (Groups) by RISE with the
condition that it should be provided as a revolving fund to the beneficiaries identified by them; service charge of 1% per month is being collected for the loan; the loan is also being repaid by the beneficiaries to the Sanghams in easy instalments. Rs.25000 each was given to the first 15 Sanghams; and since we had a surplus amount due to exchange rate, we provided Rs. 30000 each to the second 10 Sanghams with the approval of the office bearers of the 25 sanghams.
The income generation projects started by members are buying of milch animals, goats, mushroom cultivation, chalk piece making, handmade greeting card making, vegetable growing, fish stalls, street tiffin stall, coir mats, etc. Exposure visit to other income generation project were arranged. The women who attended the Entrepreneurship Development Training were taken on an exposure visit to REAL – (Rural Education and Action for Liberation) organization’s women Self-Help Groups and their income generation activities in two batches to Ennayiram and Kattumannargudi in Tamil Nadu State.
Income Generation for the Rural Dalit (Marginalised) Women.
This programme was implemented in Shenbakkam parish of Vellore Diocese. The villages are 1. Mullipalayam, 2. Abdullapuram and 3. Ambedkar Nagar. We implemented this programme with the generous assistance from Caritas Antoniana, Italy.
A Training programme on Cattle Development was organized 2013 for the 60 Landless Dalit women. Veterinary Doctors were invited as the resource persons. This was conducted through the RISE’s own contribution.
The assistance for purchasing the goats was given to initially 30 women in 2015 and for another 30 women in 2016. In the goat’s cost of Rs. 6500 per unit, we were able to give only Rs. 6000. The remaining was met by the beneficiaries.
RISE had conducted training to interstate participants on family farming with sustainable agriculture recently in the year 2018: There were 54 participants from 4 states, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry. The nature of the participants varies from Students to women farmers and members of NGOs. Please refer the Report attached for further details.
RISE had conducted a Peace Rally (Change Makers) by the youth in Puducherry during 2023. More than 180 youth participated in the 10 km long journey.
