River Otter Conservancy is an active volunteer group that seeks to conserve otters and otter habitat in South India, outside protected areas. The two key riverscapes that we work in are the Cauvery Riparian ecosystem in Karnataka State, with two active projects, and the Kabini in Kerala. A key program that straddles these projects is the riparian buffer conservation effort, particularly in the Brahmagiris, a beautiful sacred hill range in the Western Ghats that forms the border between Kerala and Karnataka for much of its length.
