WWF-Mexico have been working with local communities, authorities and researchers to place camera traps throughout the Central Pacific landscape.
So far, over 100 camera traps have been placed, which have picked up the presence of over 16 different animal species — including all six feline species found in the region. No less than 18 individual jaguars have been identified, including two cubs.
These results are a great indication of the importance of the landscape and help the team to identify priority areas for forest restoration.
