WCT was envisioned to preserve and protect India’s rich natural heritage. Currently, WCT works in and around 160 Protected Areas across 23 states in the country covering 82 percent of India’s 51 tiger reserves, 24 percent of the 655 national parks and sanctuaries and impacting a population base of approximately 3.5 million people.
This project is stewarded by organisations that are members of the Global Rewilding Alliance. Members sign on to the Global Charter for Rewilding the Earth: Advancing nature-based solutions to the extinction and climate crises, outlining 12 guiding “Principles for Rewilding”.
