Nensebo is a district of West Arsi zone, and is part of Oromia Region. The district comprises hills and mountains (70%), arid lands and plateaus (30%). Several perennial rivers flow through the district including the River Hodem, R. Kuke, R. Bedesa, R. Aebamo and R. Bohera.
Approximately 22% of the district is arable, 18.5% is under pasture, 58% forest and shrubland, and the remaining 1.5% is considered swampy, degraded or otherwise unusable. The main crops grown include teff, wheat and ensete (false banana). Coffee is also an important cash crop, with over 5,000 hectares planted.
