The private conservation areas of the Vilcanota restoration are the core zones of the remaining pockets of Polylepis forests. These conservation zones are strictly protected due to the valuable composition of their remaining ecosystems. Further, the conservation areas are used as valuable tree seed sources to supply the tree nurseries linked to the forest restoration program.
