Apipé snails belonging to the Aylacostoma genus are listed as “Extinct in the wild” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, due to major environmental changes in their natural distribution areas. For this reason, Ecoparque seeks to establish groups of individuals of the Aylacostoma genus under human care (focusing on the species Aylacostoma chloroticum) so that they can be used for experimental releases into nature.
