Thanks to Wildlife Alliance’s forest protection model, local citizens are trained and hired as law enforcement rangers to protect the Southern Cardamom mangrove forests, wildlife, and carbon stocks.
Rangers protect this region from forest clearing for land grabbing/ land speculation and poachers seeking to profit from the wildlife that reside here. To date 6,000 snares used for poaching and 500 chainsaws used for illegal logging have been confiscated by the local rangers.
