• Function as a natural and economically productive buffer zone to counter and reverse the expansion of the agricultural frontier into forests of the neighboring indigenous territory
• Restore soils and hydrological ecosystem services in the watershed of the adjacent Chati river

Possible native fine-timber species for reforestation include: Dalbergia retusa (Cocobolo-rosewood), Swietenia macrophylla (Mahogany), Cedrela odorata (Spanish Cedar), Tabebuia impetiginosa (Ipe), Tabebuia rosea (Savanna Oak), Astronium gravioles (Tigerwood), Dipteryx panamensis (Mountain Almond), Miroxylon balsam and Centrolobium yavisianum

Beyond the reforestation, remaining forest patches of the finca are permanently protected.

Deforestation of this finca started 25 years ago for cattle grazing.

The finca was purchased from the previous owner and has a land title.
