Project
Cintai Mantanani

Our Cintai Mantanani team is working on the waste management programme on the island to tackle the issue of no proper waste management system on the island. The team hires the locals to do daily waste collections from participating households and separate the rubbish between recyclables and general waste at the Mantanani Plastic Recycling Centre (MPRC) before being shipped out from the island. The MPRC is also fully solar-powered to overcome the unstable electricity issue on the island.

Apart from being a place to segregate wastes, the MPRC is also a place where the community comes to produce the local products which are for sale such as the Virgin Coconut Oil, handmade soap and lip balms made from coconut oil and more.

Our team also supports the Mantanani Homestays programme largely ran by the ladies of Mantanani Island. The homestays are steadily generating income for the ladies and are open for tourists to experience local Mantanani island living.

Our team also actively conduct school and community awareness programmes to educate them on the importance of marine conservation for the benefit of their island.
