COOPSSUR's members operate 1,200 hectares, of which 140 hectares are agroforestry systems, 134 hectares regenerated secondary forests, 792 hectares primary forests, while the rest are cacao plantations.
The plantations were established in areas of temporary banana, rice, and yucca crops. Currently work is being done to transform these monocultures into agroforestry systems with forest species such as shihuahuaco, brazil nut, tornillo, aguaje, and asai in the lowlands.
The forest is distinguished by its low, medium, and high terraces, approximately 30% of the plots are within the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve, while some overlap with the native communities of El Pilar and Santa Teresita.
